Project introduction

Our client came to use with a plan for a stick framed house and a real desire to use timber framing in as much of the home as possible. After a few compromises we were able to design a hybrid home that met everyone's requirements. The great room, kitchen, dining room, and a large loft are in the center of the home and are fully timber framed. There are two beautiful valley rafters in the great room ceiling that meet just above your head as you stand in the loft looking over the great room. On the wings of the home there are two bedrooms on the first floor and two on the second. These wings are hybridized using timber to support the floor and roof loads and the whole home is enclosed with structural panels. The timber frame is exquisite and shows the precision and skill of the craftsmen in our shop.
